My son is four and very independent. I created these shoe tying printables to help him learn how to tie his shoe and become a pro at lacing them. I made it in august of 2019, and we practiced twice a month for about 10 minutes.
With the help of these printable cards, he is officially tying his shoe! Which is awesome! However, I have to add an additional 10 minutes to our time before heading out the door. He likes for his laces to be perfect, so we continue to practice until he feels like he's a pro at it.
When I teach him something new, I like to start by reading a book on the topic. Ashur loves Pete the Cat. So we had to check out Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes. In this book, Pete the Cat is a cool cat that doesn't let any little thing ruin his day. He steps in piles of messes, but no matter what happens to his shoes, Pete keeps movin' and groovin' and singing his song.
You can purchase Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes on amazon or check it out at your local library.
